Stormy Weather

Well... la deluge hit and the skies are 256 shades of grey.  I spent the better part of yesterday pennies crunching for a certain beloved Authority. Nicki was extra saintly in his boredom and, late in the afternoon, i took him for a balspiel at Squalicum Mound.

After a while to tossing and chasing, i decided to walk along the ridges surrounding the park.  I had been to the left which leads through some backyards and ultimately to the bay.  But I hadn't noticed that the trail also went to the right, where it skirts along and above Squalicum Creek and the road i drive to get to the park.  So off we went.

The trail lists itself as "Bakerview Trail" but it doesn't  get 1/1000th as far as Mt. Baker, at least not continuously.  Still, it was untravelled except by us -- Nicki smelling humus and me ... Well days like this make me think of Lena Horne... and thinking of her, remembering Mollie, her niece and my classmate at Stockbridge.  At this time of year, in early Fall, there are too many brilliant patches of fiery colour to speak of "the greys"   but if the State had any sense, it'd make Stormy Weather its anthem. :)
